What size teat?

Not sure what teat to try next.

My LG is on neocate formula with carobel to thicken it. She is 5.5 months

We currently use mam bottles but with lansinoh teats to help with her reflux (long story!!) but she has started to finish half her bottle at the normal pace, then getting annoyed and refusing the rest.

We have started weaning and using a tumtum sippy for her water and if I put the milk in there she will finish it straight away. So she is definitely still hungry.

I have ordered mam 3 and X to arrive tomorrow, but not sure if I'm just overthinking it incase she just doesn't want milk anymore and is preferring food because her milk is gross 🤢

Could she potentially just be going through a fussy stage? 5.5 months is right in the middle of leap 5 and my boy was exactly the same, he’s probably come out the other side this last week where he’s started to enjoy his bottles again, we use a mixture of size 3 and X teat x

thanks for the reply!

i did think that, but she is finishing the milk if I put it in her sippy which is strange. I'll definitely give the 3 and X a go when they arrive tomorrow
The ones she's on now are lansinoh 6m+ but because her milk is thick, I'm not sure anymore!!

I think I’ve seen the lansinoh teats are a lot slower than the MAM teats? Could it be she’s also just frustrated with how much work she needs to put in? the X one is vari flow so she may be able to control that a bit better maybe? Babies are a mind field hahaha!

ah brilliant thank you!

I did try her tonight with a mam 2 and she did drink another ounce, but got angry again haha!

Fingers crossed the new teats will work for her - thanks again! Xx

Do the lansinoh teats help with the reflux? Our LO is so bad!

Avatar

it's hard to tell to be honest.. we went through a few changes at once (different milks, carobel etc) but she did latch much better on them

Avatar

We use the X teat for this and it is perfect x

Avatar

might have to give them a go. We’re on neocate milk, gaviscon, omeprazole and early weaning for the weight gain (dietitian approved) and he’s still really bad

Avatar

My lo is on neocate and has gone from 6oz to 2-3oz then refusing more and just playing with it/spitting it out. She is also still clearly hungry. She'll put the bottle back in her mouth but just chomp on it. I'm going to look at a tumtum tippy as I'm desperate to get more fluid into her.

Avatar

we've tried the x mam teats and she does drink more, but we basically have to leave it in her mouth and she will very very slowly drink it. She used to finish a bottle in a few minutes, now it's about 15 😂

Avatar

how much is she drinking hannah? Xx

Avatar

she's managing about 170ml with the new x teats, but before that she would have 30ml and it would be a fight for any more. She would go 10 minute breaks every 30ml and she'd be so upset and angry

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
