Is it just my child?

Hey mummies! My little one is 4 months in a couple of weeks and I’ve noticed that she starts to cry hysterically when she sees people (other than me and my husband) We are fairly sociable and have family pop in and out of our home and she will also cry at them. (grandad, grandma, uncles, aunties and etc) Due to this I will sometimes avoid plans or going to places with her, which obviously I don’t want to do. In addition to this she gets startled at loud noises, which is understandable but today my husband clicked his fingers and she started crying at that. I have recently enrolled her to a baby sensory class and she was okay there. Should I be worried? Is this normal?

Hi, I remember when my little one was at that age, now 18months was exactly like that until maybe 8-9months. If anyone looked at her she would cry hysterically even though she wanted the attention but as soon as they looked at her she just cried. That included family members. I spoke to the HV and they said it's normal, now she is so friendly and hugs randomly at anyone 😊 stay strong she will outgrow it x

Ahhhh I remember this phase. I absolutely hated the 4-5 month age for this exact reason - everything just set her off. She’d always loved my mum and happy to be held by her but suddenly everytime she could see her she’d scream her head off! Again, playgroups she was fine but any friends or family that were adults she’d burst into tears and be hysterical. I had to leave her with my parents overnight while I went to a wedding and within half an hour of leaving, she was suddenly best friends with them 😂 now she’s 2 she’s pretty sociable and likes most people Totally normal! Don’t worry or stress about it but don’t avoid things, the more she sees people the more she will be used to them 💕

We are going through the exact same thing! my daughter is 12 months now and does this since 7 months.
