LO constantly wants to be picked up still!

My baby is 15 months, he’s always been a heavy contact baby and pretty clingy in general. He is walking now and I thought it would help with independence but so far it hasn’t. He wants to be picked up ALL the time. If I’m trying to cook for him he will cry and pinch my legs. He’s fine when I pick him up but the second he goes back down he screams. It wasn’t always such a problem but he’s really heavy and when we do pick him up he leans over and I’ve nearly dropped him so many times. Anyone else’s baby like this?! How can I help him be more independent? I let him pull the cupboards out and have loads of toys all over the kitchen floor but he’s never distracted for more than a minute at a time before he’s back to pinching my legs and asking to come up!

Learning tower :)

Literally SAME and they’re getting so heavy 🫠 I try and distract as much as possible but like you said, it doesn’t last long. He just loves to be attached to me 😆 Have you seen those toddler carriers, so you can hold them on your hip with support? I’m tempted by one

My son was like this at 12 months, we got the learning tower and while he still sometimes complains when I don't let him, say, touch a red hot pan, we can now cook with him watching us and pretend cooking on his own pan (we give him bits of what we're cooking or let him stir with our help)

My daughter is very similar, she just loves a cuddle! I try to remind myself that it won’t be forever and appreciate that she’s such a cuddly baby but it is tough and overstimulating sometimes. We have a toddler tower and I also have a hip seat and a ring sling which help me to be hands free when she can’t be distracted and I try to get her involved in the things I’m doing like cooking dinner but it’s tough sometimes!

@Rachel soooo heavy! I’ve got a shoulder injury from picking him up all the time! I have seen them and I was tempted, might have to try one
