Mixing medicine

Can you give cough medicine with amoxicillin?
My toddler has had to have a second dose of amoxicillin because the tonsillitis hasn’t gone away but he’s now developed a very bad cough, he’s coughing throughout the night but I’m too scared to give cough medicine whilst he’s taking the amoxicillin. Anyone know? We have the bronco stop junior cough medicine.

It will say in the information booklet if there are contraindications but I've never heard of an issue.

Cough medicine isn’t recommended for toddler anyways;
can you not try some warm honey or bath vapour humidifier and raising his head?

it was recommended by a pharmacist the last time he had a chesty cough. I’ve tried all of that for his runny nose and it doesn’t get rid of it. I have calpol plug and vapour bubble bath and Vicks

You can use it as you've been advised and it's fine with anti biotics as it's a different group of medicines.

But I'd just be mindful, we need to coigh the gunk up or can trap infection deeper. No one should use it really because of that risk. Honey and lemon would likely be better for soothing and anti inflammatory response. It's normal to cough more at night when poorly as we lay flat which can narrow our airways so if they're inflamed, it makes it that little harder.

I'd also call your gp back and explain he's now developed this cough in case the infection has travelled. How long as babe been on the anti biotocs lovely? Xx

oh I didn’t know that, thanks for the information. I don’t think he’ll drink lemon and honey he will barely take the medicine.

He had one dose of antibiotics but still had white spots and was unwell so they ended up prescribing another dose with throat spray but now he has a cough since 3 days ago
