Safe gate or not?

Silly question as I should go with my own gut instinct which says not… but if anyone has this gate could you let me know if your toddler has figured out they could easily squeeze underneath the net????

I would say unsafe just because if they can get under the net partially they could get stuck and with it being on stairs they could tumble if they tried to get out quickly x

We have this, though not on the stairs. She's not attempted to get under it or pull it down

If you ‘lock’ the thing that slides on the top of it though, the tension should mean that they can’t get under it? We have 2 of these and my little one can barely get his arm under

It doesn’t have a good amount of tension when tightly locked. You can still tug at it a fair amount and even though it’s only a small gap I feel like my toddler could become a mouse and squeeze into tight gaps 😂🙈

@Dayna that’s good to know, thanks! Every toddler is different and even though mines is a bit more cautious than some other adventurous toddlers I’m not sure whether to risk it on the stairs 🙈

@Keeley that’s good to know they struggle to get their arm under 😅

I think they advise against the pull across ones for the top of the stairs

We have one top and bottom of the stairs, my little boy is constantly trying to go under it but he’s not even close 😂 I just let him be curious x

I have this top and bottom too and it makes me sooooo nervous!! I reckon my daughter could squeeze under it if I let her! I blame my husband though, he could have installed it lower so less gap😫 ours is definitely unsafe 😭

@Sophia yeah I agree and I wish I’d used my common sense before letting my hubby install it 😅

@Sarrah yeah I don’t think I can cope with the nerves when the whole point is to prevent her falling down the stairs!!! Will defo need to get a proper gate for the top of the stairs I think 😅

My daughter has been able to open this gate since she learned to crawl lol we had to replace it
