Hi, I have gone back to work recently and I still want to continue breastfeeding. As am working part time I was not breastfeeding for 4 hours and then doing it but after doing for 2 weeks yesterday I found that my milk supply was reducing. This scared the shit out of me and I started looking for portable pump. I can’t decide, am looking for an affordable option and came across Elvie single pump for £30 is is good? Any other suggestions?

Momcozy m5! Empties me so well

I have the Elvie Stride single - it’s good although have had to replace the tube that connects the pump to the milk collector as it (possibly through over tired user error!) malfunctioned and milk ended up in the tube. It’s not that expensive but cost more than £30; are you looking at the stride (electric) or the manual pump?

I am looking at the manual one? I mean I thought the manual you can operate by just pressing the button once and it will start suction and then press again to stop isn’t it? So is it really worth spending the extra for the stride one? I only want to use the pump for the 4hours am at work.

I started off with the Elvie curve https://www.elvie.com/en-gb/shop/elvie-curve as wanted a cheap option to see how I got on with pumping while feeding. It worked really well; you do need to make sure the suction is tight and you position it correctly (like any pump) but it’s easy to use. The guide with it advises to press every few minutes to maintain suction. I found it most effective to use it while I was feeding on the other side as didn’t get as much milk when not feeding.
I ordered the stride later as I decided to keep pumping; generally get on well with it providing I’ve put it on correctly! You could start with the Elvie curve to see how you get on?

Yeah I guess can give it a go. At the end aren’t they all same? It is just what works best for you right?
