I am really struggling to get my 10 month old to drink water! Weāve tried sippy cup, open flow cup, normal bottle, straw cup and adding a drop of baby juice. She just refuses it every time. Any advice willl be appreciated, thank you!

No advice from me as Iām in the exact same situation and was actually about to post the same š¤¦š¼āāļø But Iāve also tried everything and my LO is about to turn 13 months. Yesterday she didnāt pee for 4hrs because she had nothing to drink, and when she does it STINKS because sheās dehydrated š£ Iāve tried juice but she wonāt even take a sip, just pushes it away. Hope you get some answers!

I started leaving a bottle of water in his play pen when we played or he was having independent play and he started to get curious as to what it was and picking it up to drink it. I did put the tiniest amount of squash in to give it the slightest favour and after a week of him picking it up to drink it I stopped adding it in and he still drank it and now at 12.5 months old he will happily do 30oz of water a day without me asking him to drink it I just put the bottle next to him wherever we are and he goes for it. I'm struggling with cups still with him but my main thought is as long as he's getting the water in it doesn't matter if it's from his bottle xx

My lo was like this at that age.. we taught him how to 'cheers' and that he had to take a sip each time afterwards.. well, that became a great game for him š also, ice lollies are a game changer!

My girl was like this , I was just persistent and kept trying , took a while but now she loves water xx

You may need to add 25% juice 75% water , or see what the pediatrician recommends.

Like we do cheers, she thinks itās the best thing ever. Also works with food sheās not as sure about.

My boy was the same just kept spitting it out has got better with water since I reduced a bottle. Will not hold the cup though so I have to lift it up for him

Definitely talk to her doctor about it but mine said they don't drink water at that age just breastmilk or baby formula, unless it's because she's constipated then you give her mostly watered down juice her doctor would be able to tell you more details about that as well.

My son loves to suck water from a flannel whenever I wash his face š
So when he was ill and not drinking much I gave him a wet flannel to suck š¤·š¼āāļø

my little one was like this! she couldnāt grasp drinking from any cups, the only one she took to was a tum tum straw cup, they donāt have a valve so they just suck it like a bottle and water comes out rather than them having to bite and suck it at the same time if that makes sense! sheās drank water ever since xx

Just wanted to say she's so stinkin' cute! š„ŗ

I was in the same boat. My LO refused water. I tried different cups, and she would not drink it. But overtime.. she finally started having a few sips of water from her sippy cup. She doesnāt drink much, but itās something. I leave it around and she picks it up sometimes.

A splash of squash isnāt going to do any harm, itās better for them to be drinking that than to drink nothing! Also, ignore the people that say babies only need milk at this age, itās rubbish! They do need to drink too! Just buy a decent squash which isnāt full of rubbish xxx

Also ācheersā makes my little boy drink more too š„°you could maybe try and get matching drinking cups and drink from yours in front of them to try and encourage it too xx

i just handed mine a sippy cup and it took her a couple days to figure it out but now she will chuuuug it

Does baby choke on the water? If so it may be too thin and you might consider asking your pediatrician about thickeners until baby gets used to the thin liquid.

If she is used to a bottle put it in there. Try that then speak to Dr about why she is not taking a cup maybe

Thank you so much for all of your advice! Some great tips that I will be trying asapš

ahh thank youš„°
