Warmer weather ☀️

Is anyone else anxious about it getting warmer and not wanting their baby to overheat? Like what do I dress her in? Suncream? And she’s currently in a 2.5 tog sleep bag ? Is that right🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s hard having a baby in winter and then it getting warmer and not having a clue🙃 Any advice or reassurance is welcome🤦🏼‍♀️

Yesterday when it was 17 degrees I took my girl out in just what she wore in the house. So she had a short sleeve vest with long sleeve top and bottoms and socks. No hat and no cardigan but I took both under the buggy. Kept the footmuff on but pulled it down to not cover her fully. She was warm to the touch still so was perfect x

Sleepsuit will depend on the night time temperature in your room, whats it saying? We are still doing 2.5 and short sleeve vest and onesie because our room is 17 at night

@CeeCee sometimes it fluctuates from 17-20 and my little one wears a vest a sleep suit with a 2.5 tog x

They will be fine dont worry. Make sure your baby monitor has a thermometer on it, you could put a fan in the hallway (dont directly point it in the nursery though) to circulate air better at night, take a clip on pram fan out with you in the day, babies shouldnt be in the sun so i dont know if i bothered with suncream with my first but im sure if you think theres a risk of sun exposure then you will need suncream… get a parasol for your garden if there’s no shade… 2.5 tog sounds too warm for summer but there will be a guide on the right tog online somewhere… My daughter was born in november (different year) and she was fine in the heat. Just keep an eye x

One layer more than you is a good rule. Under 6 months no sunscreen, just light coloured cotton to keep them cool. Stick to the shade Wear hats Avoid sun 12-4pm (I live in portugual. Welcome to my life xx)

Ohh this has thrown me too, overnight our room last night was 21 degrees! Had the windows open all day too to try cool it down.

Yes!! I feel like I’m so used to layering up for the cold I’m not prepared for this warmer weather 🙈

The sleepsuits all have tog guidance depending on the temperature. For spring personally I’d go with a 2.5 tog but just with a vest underneath. For summer go lighter. In terms of clothes a good rule of thumb is one more layer than you have. As long as they aren’t chilly and aren’t sweating you’re generally ok. They’re more robust than you think - if you do get it slightly wrong one day it won’t hurt them 🫶
