Baby no 2 introduction

Hi I’m due baby number 2 in June. We’ve been reading my son books about having a baby etc, talked to him lots about the baby and we’ve told him baby will be bringing him a present. I’ve read they should meet whilst not being held by you and to change language so you blame yourself and not baby if you can’t meet your toddlers needs immediately.

Any other advice on introducing them or managing the transition to 2?

I’ve also read that no matter what, the toddler will regress in some way. Did everyone find this to be true? In what ways did this happen?

Sounds like you've really read up on it! One other thing I did was try connect my eldest to my belly, he became really attached to my belly and knew baby was in there. In the mornings he would run to kiss my belly instead if me 🤣 I feel like that attachment transferred to baby once she was born. And yes you're right, little language changes can help to avoid blaming baby but also yourself "mama just needs 5 minutes and then I can help you colour" that way there isn't a blame on anyone.
I got him really involved in helping me with changes, bath time, burping and he loved doing it so much he proactively does things to help her now
Honestly I didn't really notice a regression anywhere. We made sure not to do anything else big after the birth I.e. no potty training, waited 6 months before he started with childminder etc. Its such a beautiful journey, I guess like with all things there's only so much you can control with kids, just enjoy the ride and watching their relationship develop 💜
