Sugars up

Hello all I am currently in my two week wait period. My sugars have been high and I am a little nervous of all of this before knowing if I am actually pregnant or not. Has anyone had a similar situation happen or any advice. I was 2.9 and then shot back up 🫠. Any advice is welcome

So you're not pregnant, but you are t1d? If so, and you're not on insulin injection, you need to really limit your carbohydrates. Basically, try keto. Meats and veggies and cheese are your best friends. My go-to snacks during pregnancy were pickles hollowed out with string cheese inside and wrapped in sandwich turkey. If you are not yet taking insulin, bring this up with your endocrinologist and they should put you on a injection of Lantus/other long lasting insulin to keep your sugars down and steady.

Hey Mareah, the two week wait can be soo hard! My sugars spiked at the start of my pregnancy (before I knew I was actually pregnant) just try and get them back down if you can I used excersise to get mine down at the start which worked well, high sugars happen just try not to be high for too long, also if you are pregnant might not be the same for everyone but I was injecting more for first few weeks then I had a dip for a few weeks injecting less before the resistance started, it's great you've got a monitor just watch it more than ever :) Good luck hope you get your positive!

Hey Mareah, I think it’s good to be aware but don’t stress too much. When I was in my 2 week window my sugars weren’t perfect and I had one day where they were unusually high (high teens) all day and I just couldn’t bring them down (I’m now convinced that was my implantation day). I was so worried about that day, but when I told my diabetes team they weren’t worried at all. I think these days will happen in pregnancy. I’m approaching 10 weeks, and I’ve had some highs on some weeks where my sickness was bad or the resistance was kicking in. My team put my mind at ease by reminding me of the focus being on the long term picture so as long as I wasn’t constantly high every day that was the main thing. Wishing you all the luck for the next couple of weeks! X

@Layla Hi Layla. As far as I know we’re not pregnant but we’re in that. Where I’m waiting to test. I am on insulin injections which is weird because I have been correcting as normal so I’m assuming there’s something causing me to be a bit more insulin resistant.. I’ve upped my background insulin by a unit so it seems to be slightly better today. Going to up it again tomorrow to see if it can keep it in range more.

@Dani hi Dani. The two week wait is so hard. It’s near impossible not to almost think of everything as a sign or a symptom. As of today I’ve started being a little more tired as well. But I am definitely going to have to walk more. I had a big walk today and it kept them, level then right after when they seem to climb. I haven’t gone as high as 17 today. So far the highest has been 12 and I’ve corrected with insulin right away so fingers crossed on this. Thank you, I am really hopeful for my positive as well Xx

@Laina Hi Laina. Really trying not to stress for sure. I had that day a couple of days ago where it went to 17. I have asked my endocrinologist if this could negate any chances I have and she said she would be more concerned with constant lows. I’m definitely gonna need to start walking more. The past couple of days I haven’t been high all the time, but there has been one or two instance of spikes. The highest there was today was about 12. I’ve caught it with a correction right away . I would definitely say becoming more resistant. Congrats on your pregnancy. I’m so excited for you!
