cut baby’s finger 😭
i feel like the worst mom in the world. husband was pressuring me to clip LO’s nails when i was nervous and wanted to wait until i had batteries for the nail file. i gave into his rude comments and ended up nicking baby’s thumb. it bled for sooo long and the mom guilt is insane!! i have his lil thumb wrapped in gauze as he’s sleeping on me. i feel more traumatized than him ugh has anyone else accidentally hurt their babies and feel horrible? i hate this feeling

Same thing happened to me! The nails are so little. I wrapped mines thumb in a small bandage and only out her in onsies that had flip over mits so it could really take the time to heal
Sorry girl 🥺 I know that sucks! I'm always scared of nail cutting too and then my 3 month old ends up scratching herself. Can't win for losing. With my first I remember one time she was around 3 months old and starting to really smile at me really sweet and one day she was on the bed and just looking at me so sweet and smiling and then in a fluke I somehow ended up scratching her eye with my nail while trying to change her or something and ruined the whole moment and felt so bad! She went from smiling sweetly at me to wailing in pain 😢 😭 it was the worst. I know how you feel. *hug*

I’m terrified of cutting my babies nails usually my sister or aunt does it but I finally did it by myself 4 days ago and I already have to cut them again 😭 but I’m still scared because I would feel like dying if I accidentally clipped him.I don’t even know how I got the courage to do it a few days ago, the first time I tried I spent 10 minutes just putting the nail clipper in between his nails and then I would get chills anytime I started to close it so after that 10 minutes I gave up and my sister did it lol
I hurt my baby as well first time clipping her nails but luckily didn’t bleed. I felt sooo bad hearing her crying, mum guilt is insane I understand you. It happened in front of my MIL while she was complaining how sick she was. After that she said ohh just leave it, my son can do it when he comes back from work and I felt even worse
I feel like this is a sad right of passage. My first kiddo's nails grew so fast I had to clip them twice a week. Just once I nicked her and felt HORRIBLE! Their little fingers are so vascular and bleed a lot! But it healed up very quickly and she still (she is 3 now) lets me clip her nails. It's gonna be okay mama! You got this.
Ahh yes the guilt I didn't cut her nails for way too long after I cut her.
When you do nick baby, put their finger in a little cornstarch. It will help coagulate the blood and then you don’t have to worry about a bandaid staying on or being eaten.
I got one of these and it's been a lifesaver! It safely files baby's nails without any risk of hurting them (if you use the correct head! They give you a chart so you know which to use for what ages). My LO actually even seems to enjoy it! She'll smile and won't pull away like I had expected her to. I highly recommend!

Everyone... I had found a baby nail clipper with an attached magnifying glass!! Makes a difference!!! It took me time but I've gotten the hang of it. I also wait till she's knocked out milk drunk on me.

I've clipped my daughters skin with the nail clipper a few times now and I felt bad each time, one time we put a bandaid on her finger and ended up leaving somewhere and we had to pull over cause she choked on the bandaid 🤦
