Opinions on sweeps

Hey ladies, needing some advice..

my midwife offered me a sweep on my next appointment when I will be 39+6 (if I haven’t already gone into labour by then of course). Now I’m quite adamant I don’t want an induction and would rather go over that have an induction but I’m so done with being pregnant, I just want baby boy here! Do you think a sweep is okay to have and has anyone got any opinions or stories in regards to having the sweep and things not going to plan?? As in birth plan? I’m hoping for a water birth and I don’t want anything that I’ve personally chosen to do to affect that

I’m being induced, but I was still offered a sweep. I accepted and go in next week for it! Hoping it kickstarts labor for me before my induction date lol I’m like you, I’m over being pregnant 🤣

I had two with my first and one with this one and none have worked, I don't think it can hurt to do it ❤️ xoxo

It only brings anything on if you're ready 🙂

that’s exactly what I wanted to hear! I’m just scared that I’ll have to have further interference after it but I guess it’s nothing like being induced. Thank you 🙏🏽

nothing like it 🙂❤️ I am being induced on Saturday and was induced on my last as the s&s did absolutely nothing unfortunately haha xoxo

how was your induction, if you’re comfortable sharing? xx

I had a sweep when I was overdue with my first, and I went on to have a good birth with no interventions and it progressed naturally the same evening ☺️

honestly, my first was awful, 32 hours of labour, 26 before they could put the epidural in (which didn't work so they had to do it again an hour later)

They put the balloon in and a few hours later my waters went, then it was a very slow and painful labour, followed by blood clots and sepsis so it wasn't a great experience but hoping this one will be better❤️ xoxo

I had a sweep today, at 39+2. I guess it the most natural form of induction and I’ve read that sometimes it takes a few goes to help it start. If anything, I’m glad I had it as they were able to tell me how effaced my cervix was and that I was already 1cm dilated so it was reassuring! Because I was effaced it wasn’t very uncomfortable either, but they said if it was that they would stop straight away and let you decide if you want to go ahead. Took literally 1 min to do aswell and I’m home now waiting!

I had a sweep with my first baby and she arrived 3 days later. I had the birth I planned. After the sweep do lots of waking, bouncing on ball. I also had spicy food on the Friday night and things started happening on the Saturday. Whether it was all related who knows but it was positive for me. I had a sweep yesterday and so far nothing! Got another one on Sunday so keeping fingers crossed it helps x

Three with my first, one with this one. They didn’t work for me but I’ve heard others positive stories.
