Hiccups in newborn!

My LO is a week old, she has been having hiccups since birth. The nurses said it was okay , but it’s been a week and she has continuous hiccups for about 25-30minutes at a stretch.

Anyone else facing this? What remedies are you using?

This may be super frowned upon so take it for what it is....my son had hiccups for 8 hours while we where at my grandparents he was 3 years old. Before I could say anything I walked in from getting a bottled water [not a baby bottle) from the diaper bag shes pulling a spoon out of his mouth he swallow and stops hiccuping within 5seconds. It was a third of a tsp of sugar!!I didn't give the kids refined sugar regularly only like a small piece of cake or whatever on holidays so not to feel left out only if they asked for it tho.

My 4 week old has hiccups since the day she was born as well as during pregnancy. It is totally okay and normal if the hiccups don't go away after a few minutes I feed her just a little and after drinking milk for like 10 seconds to 30 seconds the hiccups go away.

But that's mostly for me because it hurts my heart to hear her hiccup for a long time

An African remedy I use is to put a small piece of tissue or paper on my little ones forehead usually stops her hiccups within a minute might work for you- you can give it a go others I know have tried a small piece of string and have said it works

It’s totally normal since their bodies are still getting used to being in the world. It bothers the parents more than it bothers them.

I used to hold my baby upright and keep her warm. It doesn’t really bother them and they grow out of it x

My daughter used to have it quite often when she was a baby and it was linked to her silent reflux. If she’s not bothered and doesn’t have any other symptoms I wouldn’t worry as it is quite common.

Hiccups are normal and often happen after eating or being laid down. If they seem really uncomfortable by it then you can bring it up to their Dr but typically it’s just a normal occurrence
