Losing weight or maintaining weight throughout 2nd tri

I gained a crazy amount of weight during my first tri. I’m coming up on about 10 pounds. With my first I hadn’t gained a pound my entire first tri. I want to either safely lose the excess weight or at least keep this weight for a period of time so I don’t end up gaining a crazy amount of weight during my pregnancy. My first, I gained about 40 lbs and at the rate I’m going I’m probably on track to gain 60 which is way too much (for me). Anyone have experience with doing this safely?

Similar situation. With my first I gained 27 pounds total out of which only 2 in the first trimester. This time I am 7 pounds heavier on week 10, so the projections are not good. For reference, I am short and started the pregnancy with my regular light weight (5’1, 110lbs). I already exercise regularly at the gym (besides toddler chasing at home). What I have implemented this week is a “no sugar” rule (fruits ok) plus keeping gum around so when I feel like snacking I try the gum first to see if it works (but if it doesn’t, I cave in and snack). Not sure how much this will work in slowing the weight gain. Anyhow, I don’t think there is a safe way to intentionally lose weight while pregnancy :-/
