Alcohol

When did everyone stop drinking before their fet? I have mine in the next month or two, not a big drinker but like to have a few at family functions. Did you stop completely or let yourself indulge a few times? Not sure yet what I’m going to do

It’s best to get the body ready now for it. I’ve been reading ‘it starts with the egg’ and there is so much information on how to prepare for embryo transfer.

I made the decision to do a month alcohol free before but due to a thin lining it’s taken longer to get to fet so it’s now been 5 weeks. I’ve been tempted especially today while it’s been sunny but held strong, fet is Tuesday. Main thing for me is alcohol inflames my body so avoiding it is best to ensure I don’t have any excess inflammation

At the start I would stop ages before. 6 years later, I decided I couldn’t live my life with fertility at the top of my mind. Towards the end I would stop from transfer day. I now have a one year old daughter. Do whatever you’re comfortable with. Living healthily obviously is the ideal but I wouldn’t stop living my life.

I mostly quit drinking in Sept 2022, about two months before our egg retrieval. I ended up having four transfers over the next 15 months or so. I had a few cocktails here and there in between (Christmas, my 40th, etc) and I believe I had a couple of gins about a week before my final transfer. I’m a big believer in doing the things that make you feel good during what is, let’s face it, a fairly hellish process. So if you want a glass of wine, just have one. The occasional drink before the transfer is not going to make a difference, whereas depriving yourself of the things that relax and destress you would be infinitely worse for you.

I had a couple drinks here in there, the last one being exactly 1 week before the transfer but none the week of transfer. And so far im testing positive :) The book It Starts with the Egg never says to stop drinking, I believe the research quoted in that book said you have to have like 10 drinks a week in order for it to effect anything. So one or two drinks a week is not going to affect it. The book actually mentions that caffeine is worse. Obviously do whatever you are comfortable with and after the transfer, no alcohol!

They told me not to drink when I started meds. I didn’t stop then. I think I even had a drink the day before the transfer. I didn’t get drunk or even tipsy. But I did have a drink. I was on estrogen for about 5 weeks and that was a long time 🤣

1st FET unsuccessful I didn’t drink the month leading up to transfer. This go around I decided to have an occasional drink and now am one week away from my transfer. I had a wedding event last night and the first sip immediately made me nauseous, thought it was the drink so at a birthday party today I took a sip and again nauseous. Listening to my body it doesn’t want the alcohol. Do what feels right, your body will definitely let you know.

I stopped drinking first of Jan and had FET 19th march, nutritionist recommended 3 months before, it worked for us

I stopped about a month before (I’ve had a fresh and a frozen) for some reason, I’ve really struggled this time 🙈 I’m dying for a glass of wine. I actually think I would have stressed less if I was to allow myself the odd glass
