Baby camping

Hi all! Thinking a few months ahead as baby isn’t even here yet (not long though getting induced next Saturday 🥳) We’re both outdoorsy and can’t wait to get back out in the summer with baby. Couple of questions though … I love to wild swim and wondering how safe this is/ if safe at all for baby as I know outdoor water is often way colder than swimming pools. Secondly, when we’re camping we love a campfire, is this still possible too or will it affect baby too much?

I personally wouldn’t think either of these things are safe because of the cold water and what could be in the water and also the smoke from the camp fire would have toxins within and irritate baby’s little lungs. You could still go camping but just avoid those 2 things

We are planning to go camping with our baby over the summer, just going to keep them away from smoke from a bonfire, but it's summer so unlikely we will do a fire anyway ☺️ in terms of cold water swimming, I'm not sure but you do have to be very careful of water temp and baby. If you want to swim I imagine as long as your partner or someone else you trust is on shore looking after baby you are OK to swim but maybe not baba xx

Have a look into the smokeless fire pits, they’re a game changer!

When are you planning to go camping? How old will baby be? You should definitely invest in one of those thermal wetsuit and keep baby as warm as possible if you are indeed bringing them into the water. As for the campfire I can only tell you that breathing wood smoke is not safe for baby, and it could be a problem (both short term and long term) so I'll probably avoid it, or I'll keep baby far away from it

@Erika oooo didn’t know they were a thing!! Will have a look!

@El we’re planning on going about September so she’ll be around 4 months. I’ll have a look into the wetsuits thank you!!
