I'm starting to get worried about my little girl who is 6 months. On three occasions she's done this tremor/shake when waking up, first time (a week or so ago) she opened eyes stirring and my partner picked her up, her head and upper body was shaking for a few seconds, we thought this was down to shock of her waking up. She done this again yesterday, she alseep I picked her up and she started to shake, then again this evening she was asleep in my arms and has I moved to her bed she shaked very quickly (still asleep). I don't know if this is still a startle reflex? She was very jumpy and shaky as a new born however grew out of it, can it come back? It's too quick for me to film and unpredictable.

Definitely talk to your GP.

Hi, I'm curious if you managed to get any answers from the Dr about this? My 4.5 month old has started getting a head & shoulder tremor in the last week, it's usually while he is breastfeeding and lasts about 5 seconds. He's conscious while he's shaking, no eye rolling, and is absolutely fine the rest of the time... we went to the GP yesterday and she referred us to paediatric neurology as she couldn't see anything obviously wrong with him (no fever or signs of infection etc). He then had an episode this morning where it happened 3 times in a row, roughly 30 secs to a minute apart, and I managed to get a video. Went back to GP and she's now flagged it as an urgent referral, but could still take weeks to hear anything back from them 😟 If you want to send me a DM I'm happy to share my video to see if it is the same thing happening with your baby. It's so hard not to panic about it xx

Hello, did this ever stop and/or was there ever a resolution or explanation?

@Alexis We eventually had our baby seen by a Paediatric Neurologist who took a thorough history, examined him, and watched the videos we had recorded. She reassured us that it didn't appear to be anything serious, it was more than likely to be associated with his transition into sleep while I was breastfeeding him. They did a blood test to make sure he didn't have any vitamin deficiencies etc, but came back normal. We will get another review in a few months, but she was confident he would simply outgrow them. Sure enough, after the appointment, he has only had about 2 small episodes, and now it has stopped 😊 xx
