LB has been doing really well with solids BLW style for the last month or so now.
However, lately he has started to shove loads of food into his mouth in one go. Previously if he put too much in he would gag and spit it out and it was fine and I know that's part of them learning but now he's hardly gagging?
I don't know if that's just because the gag reflex has weakened now but it's terrifying me as he's putting too much food in it then just sitting with in there and I'm worried he's going to choke. I've taught him how to spit out but he only does this occasionally even with encouragement.
He's also sticking his fingers right to the back of this throat whilst he's eating, so sometimes there's a lot of food in his mouth then he starts pushing it back, I think accidentally shoving it when he sticks his fingers in. He's teething so I think that's why he's doing it but again it's terrifying me!
Any one else experiencing this? Or any thoughts?

My little girl does this as well. I think her gag reflex has moved further back. She will have a whole mouthful and still shove a spoon in there 🤦🏻♀️ it is scary but she hasn't choked and fingers crossed she never does. I just try and let her get on with it while keeping a close eye on her. I keep reading that babies are intuitive eaters. I think it's all just them learning how to eat and keep food in their mouth while chewing. Babies just like to keep us on our toes!

My ltitle boy has just started over stuffing food into his mouth too and its stressing me out!

all really good points and reassuring to hear! Thank you!

it's so stressful isn't it!

Mine does this too but I do also remember my oldest doing it and he still shoves it all in still now sometimes😂 I actually filmed him the other day because I could not believe how much he was shoving in at once and wasnt even gagging! I just keep an eye on him cos im guessing its part of them learning but is still so scary though!

it's good to know it's normal as scary as it is! 😅
