Night feeding

Hi! My LO is 3 months old and she wakes up during the night to feed, is that normal or should she be able to sleep during the night without eating?

Honestly I’m not sure. My LO has been sleeping through the night since about 3wks old ☺️ always consult with pediatrician if you feel like something is off

My 3 almost 4 month old is still waking up in the middle of the night to feed about 1-3 times depending on the night.

Every baby is different so I’m guessing it might just be normal for him

My babe is 3 months old and usually gives me one stretch of sleep about 4 hours and then wakes up every 2.5 hours to eat

My baby wants to have wake windows til 2am. She then has been waking up every 2-3 hours til about 11am then wants to be up again. Yesterday she slept 2-9am and then wanted to be up. Seven hours is the about the longest she ever goes. I have heard that around when they start solids they sleep through the night, but then a whole bunch of other things happen that can keep them up.

Yes, completely normal! My LO is 18 months and still wakes at night to feed. Every baby is unique.
A 3 month old isn’t ready to sleep through the night or be sleep trained yet. Also, frequent night wakes/feeds are linked to lower rates of SIDs because baby is being checked on throughout the night. Most moms who night wean do so because they return to work or decide to because they want to. If you’re okay waking up to offer comfort then continue with it. You should never question giving baby what they’re asking for, especially when it’s a basic need like food. You’re their whole world right now.

Hi, we just had a doctor’s appt. yesterday and discussed this, our doctor is at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard qualified. She said babies sleep the amount of hours of their monthly age, so 3 months = 3 hours, then they should have a feed as that is about how fast they metabolize milk. Letting them go any longer than that, you’re essentially fasting your baby until morning, which isn’t good for their development. We dream feed our baby 2x during the night, she doesn’t wake, and we quickly go back to sleep. You’re doing great!

This is absolutely normal!

From what I’ve read, any night feeding is fine as long as it’s not impacting daytime feeding. So if they’re eating at night and then don’t want to during the day, you would decrease the amount offered at each night feed to make sure they’re eating more during the day than at night. But if they’re eating good during the day, perfectly normal to continue to need feeds at night. They’re still SO little!

My first kid took night feedings till he was 10 months old and we weaned him off. Perfectly normal for a 3 month old to wake to eat in the night

Super normal. I usually feed my baby 2-3 times over a 10 hour night sleep. My first kid night fed until over a year old and then I switched her to milk and she’d drink milk in the night until she turned two 😑
