Red eye and nursery

So my son woke up with red eyes yesterday which seem to have gotten worse today. He’s otherwise okay, just a little bit more emotional. He had a temp over 38 yesterday I was called to take him home. Today his temp is fine but the eyes are just more red. The nursery have called to let me know and basically said I needed to collect him again! Is this reasonable? He’s playing fine but just needs more cuddles! I am working and have had to take so much time off, and when he comes home he’s absolutely fine.

Has he got another temp and that’s why they are asking to collect again? It’s really frustrating when they call and they are ok in themselves. Obviously if he has a temp then you have no choice but just check. If he’s just wanting more cuddles in nursery they are going to have to accommodate

@Bella so he’s temp is around 37 and they said it’s been up and down. They would administer calpol if it was over 38 and then wait for an hour to see if it had gone down. Of course I wouldn’t want him to be there is he was poorly but yeah he seems fine. I’ve plucked up the courage to call and let them know that if he’s fine he should stay, so I’ll see how it goes.

Yeah. Sometimes when they call they make u feel like u have to collect. If his temp is not staying high and is fine in himself I am sure he will be ok for a few hours. The weeks nearly over!!

My boy had red eyes and a bit of a temp, was called to collect. They thought it was conjunctivitis and my nursery has an exclusion table for all illnesses, luckily doctor said it wasn’t but by that time he was off for 2 days! Really hard to manage taking time off with work …. Does your nursery have an exclusion table setting out minimum time they can’t be in due to a certain illness? They may ask you go get him checked out by the doctors.

@Liz yeah it’s a temp, vomiting and diarrhoea, plus the obvious chicken pox and contagious serious illnesses. Luckily I was able to speak to his familiar adult and she said he was fine, just a little bit more clingy but I didn’t need to collect him 😅!

@Bella I’ve realised it’s one particular worker that is always the one to call for me to collect him. Luckily I was able to speak to his familiar adult and she said he was fine, just a little bit more clingy but I didn’t need to collect him 😅!
