please help!! should i be worried?

i’m 28 1/2 weeks pregnant. most days i only feel my baby kick a little. i try to do kick counts but it’s hard cause i feel like he isn’t moving much. i have an anterior placenta so i don’t know if that plays a part, or the fact that i stand and walk around my entire shift at work so i can’t feel it at all? should i call labor and delivery? i just feel like im not feeling him much on a day to day basis like i should. and then it makes it difficult to tell if his movement is reduced some days or not since i feel very little and that worries me if i dont catch if something’s wrong fast enough.

I do believe an anterior placenta makes a big difference! Have you had any scans recently?

Avatar

i had a scan maybe 2 or so weeks ago and he was completely fine. i also went to labor and delivery a few days before that visit to make sure that he was ok due to not feeling much movement. i’ve had no pregnancy complications or anything and every scan he is completely fine i just can’t feel him much which worries me. i don’t know if it’s due to my placenta or not. just worried i wont be able to catch something thats wrong in the future if anything were to happen.

ahh okay gotcha. If I were you, rather than focusing as much on IF he’s moving (because you still feel him even though it’s slight) maybe start paying attention more to if there’s an unusual, very noticeable change in movement patterns? He’ll keep getting stronger as he grows and those kicks and pushes will feel more obvious very soon!! Also, never be ashamed to go in to have him checked if it’s ever really worrying you. Have you thought about maybe picking up a doppler for some peace of mind at home between visits?

i do have a doppler which definitely helps me a lot. i just know it’s good to also feel movements too. but yes that’s smart just making sure there’s not noticeable changes win patterns. thank you so much i feel a lot more peace at mind. definitely will still call L&D if i can’t stop worrying

I have an anterior placenta and I can’t feel baby if I’m moving around. I have to be sitting or laying down to really feel anything. I do my kick counts in the evening after dinner because I’m usually just sitting on the couch and she’s the most active

ok that makes me feel much better thank you so much!! i relate definitely. didn’t know if it was a bad thing or not

Also at 28 weeks I feel like I was lucky to feel some kicks once or twice a day. Now at almost 33 weeks I feel her a lot more so as you get further along you will probably start to feel baby more!

I had an anterior placenta (covering 75% of the front of my belly) so kick counts were really hard to do. I was told that my placenta was covering the right side of my belly. So I would push on the right side of my belly when I’m doing kick counts which helped me feel him movements more

I too had an anterior placenta. And even at the end it was hard to feel him move consistently.
If I knew i hadn’t felt him, I’d try and just lay down, rub my belly and poke at him. He’d always move eventually. I’d always bring it up when they asked about kick counts and no ever really listened. They’d just say your kick counts are important 🙄
You know your baby. If you don’t feel him and you feel something is wrong, call/go in. A shift full of walking can rock baby to sleep. So laying down or pausing can be your best bet to getting him moving.
