Hey, i’ve received an letter after being referred to the allergy clinic as my son had a choking episode on nutramigen and had symptoms like a bad bum rash, sickness and pooing consistently so was moved on to sma Alfermino and is now settling after 2 weeks on it. What are the things they test for on the skin prick tests? and would i be able to feed him around 30 mins after as it’s right before he gets fed. Picture of my happy boy now so we don’t get lost

We had the testing done yesterday, obviously it may be different at the clinic you go to but after a discussion with the consultant he asked us what we would like testing. So we went for cows milk, dogs, peanuts and soya.
They have all the main allergens available but we had tested them all already through weaning but had not yet done peanuts so we opted for that too.
There was no mention of feeding, so I’m sure you’d be able to feed whenever needed, we only had to wait 15 minutes for the skin prick test results then after seeing the Dr again we was free to go. We was there about a hour all together x

Sorry to jump on post, was this through the NHS? We have our on the 1st of July and was wondering what allergens they test for (we already know of wheat allergy) x

yes that’s was NHS ☺️. I got the impression they was happy to do as many as we wanted but we had already tested majority of them so didn’t want to put him through too many pricks. We already knew milk and suspected dogs so they were the first ones they’d said they do then he asked if there was any we would like to double check so we did peanuts and soya x

oh amazing, thank you so much for replying! ☺️ x

no problem at all ☺️ x

Agree with the above, although you can have a RAST blood test done too as skin pricks can give false negatives.
Regarding the choking, has he had a swallow assessment done to check all is okay?

no he’s not it was not last weekend the weekend before and only got letter today for next month x

Can I ask how long your referral times were with the NHS? We’ve just been referred today and I’m worried it’ll take a long time before we hear anything

we were referred on 11th may and came through the post

Our referral went through on 29th April, then got a letter on the 8th May with an appointment for the 1st July x

we was seen 6 weeks after referral x

@Helen depends on the area
We was referred as urgent in December and have paed appointment in 5 weeks and not even sure that's for the allergy testing or just to talk to them

we had a leaflet to say about the testing with the letter so i would say not x

@Amy thank you not even sure where her letter is now was February it was sent 🙈
To many appointments for children some with letters some.without

if your baby reacted to nutramigen, they will test for sure milk and maybe also coconut and soy.
