@Charlotte I’m not currently, but something I’m sure I could set up!
I don’t know if there are any time limits to be on it. If you have an accountant see if they can suggest what to do. I found this on the following website:- ‘You will also be an employee if you employ yourself in your own limited company.’ So as director I think you are classed as being employed. https://maternityaction.org.uk/advice/maternity-pay-questions/#:~:text=You%20can%20get%20SMP%20if,in%20your%20own%20limited%20company. Hope you sort it xx
@Charlotte this is so helpful, thanks so much!!❤️
I’m a director and can get SMP but I’m not a sole director, not sure if that’s any different but I am also on the payroll and they look at your previous 3 months salary to calculate your smp I think! Best to speak to an accountant x
Hey Abbie, I'm a Director of a company limited by shares. I also work, but started too late with the company for SMP and I do not get paid for being a Director. When applying for maternity allowance I just wrote on the notes section that the director position is voluntary and I got granted maternity allowance.
@Louise Oh amazing! Thanks so much Louise x
Either way, SMP or MA is only available whilst you’re on leave. If you go back to work early, all payments will stop. You can only do 10 KIT days on leave.
Hey there, I am in your boat. I got SMP - my accountant sorted it all. I’m falling asleep now but if you want info dm me :)
Are you on the pay roll as PAYE for your company? I’m sure you then just get normal SMP - think you need to send the MATb1 form?
