Guys I have weird vibes about our dog sitter. Do I fire after part 1 and scramble to find a substitute or just brush it off and never do it again?!?!
Details below…
1. She looks like she is on drugs
- First visit she was told us she has Epilepsy so she take meds which is fine I am all for being healthy. However my husband has a feeling meds are beyond and now I’m questioning if he’s right and she’s on other things too.
2. She can’t remember our address or house code..
- This is like the third visit I had to reshare - scroll up in your texts, write it down and/or save it in your phone for reference.
3. She can’t understand the days we need her despite me explicitly texting it about 3/4 times now.
- I sent her our schedule for our May trip in March reiterated in April and now here we are in May during it and she’s still asking. To the point of she sent me her calendar I reviewed and confirmed we need you all but Tuesday, we leave Wednesday and return the following Monday). After reconfirmation Friday that she understood - she thought we were coming home 5/27 not what was initially indicated which is stressing me out.
We split our trip into 2 parts due to travel plans copy/paste am I unclear?!?:
- May 24th (leaving around 9am for south Florida) - May 28th (will be home around 8 PM we will sleep at the house that night and leave for Nebraska in the morning!)
-May 29th (leaving around 10am for flight to Nebraska) - June 3rd (arriving back around 8PM)
4. She is checking our dogs poop, giving us tips and going back and forth with questions on our dog food.
- sounds nice and I feel like she means well. It is just not the million questions and lack of peace of mind I want to deal with while on vacation.

😳😳😳 Unfortunately, if I were in this same situation, I would just get through the vacations with this sitter and then find a new one ASAP upon returning home on June 3rd. This sounds like a nightmare!! Sorry you can't enjoy your time off. I will say a prayer that everything goes okay & that your next sitter is the world's best!!!

Do you have any cameras in your house or someone like a family or friend that come come and check in on them while you aren’t there?
If it is a last resort thing, I would suggest you probably have to stick it out this time around and get another once sitting once you’re back home! My husband and I have used boarding schools for this reasoning although they tend to sometimes be a bit more expensive, so maybe take a look at those in your area as well: they’ve been great for our high energy dog who needs lots of hands on attention and medical care if necessary which has happened before!) also try and talk to her about how you’re feeling, but not sure that will help.
Once you get back and have a clear head you can think clearly about getting a new dog sitter and sadly have to bite the bullet for right now and do your absolute best to try and enjoy every moment of the vacation!!! It sounds wonderful and I would die for a vaca like that 😂 I hope all goes well and you get to enjoy this time!!

If you feel off about it, find someone new. Always trust your gut instincts.
