Toddler doesn’t let me brush his teeth 😩
Hi Moms!How are you guys doing it to brush your little one’s teeth? I started to brushing my baby‘s teeth with a silicone brush when he was about six months and he would let me do it every single time. Then I switched to a toddler brush and he was still letting me do it, but in the last two or three weeks, he does not want me to do it at all. I don’t want to force it because I don’t want him to be afraid of brushing his teeth. I let him do it by himself, but when I give him the brush, he ends up just throwing it on the ground. Any advice?

Honestly I’m in the same boat and my husband and I have to hold him down. He’s completely over his meltdown by the time we’re done. My sister had the same experience with her two kids who are grown now. They have no issues brushing and flossing their teeth and they were also held down as toddlers. 😅 Gotta do whatever you feel is right.
I think maybe teething could be a reason he doesn't want to brush, but I sing the brushing teeth song from Ms Rachel with my daughter. she brushes her own teeth first and then I go in and brush after. Maybe try singing and making it more fun 🤷
I first try to distract my LO with a book or something to play with while I try to brush her teeth. I try to make it a funny game but if it all fails then I cradle her in my elbow to be able to brush her teeth and she cries but she’s over it as soon as I’m done. I think it’s pretty natural for babies to not like their mouth being messed with
For mine, I do like a little floating exercise in the bath with a little bit of water and that seems to kind of calm him. We do it after we’re done with his bath right before he goes to bed and that seems to help. And then I let him hold the toothbrush afterwards. It might also be, the toothpaste using maybe he just doesn’t like the taste anymore.
Ms Rachel has a nice song for brushing teeth, my son loves it, I sing that song while I'm doing it, and it works most of the times 😅
I sing the Brush your teeth song from Ms. Rachel every time I brush my LO’s teeth. She now does the gesture with her finger when I sing the song. She seems to enjoy her teeth being brushed more when I sing the song. Maybe introduce some teeth brushing songs and sing them when it’s time 🤷🏽♀️
