Didn’t know this was a thing , I just kept using my normal ones (I have bleached hair ) and never had an issue xx
Lots of products would flag up on the Yuka app as being harmful, even products made and marketed for babies (such as Aveeno). Hair shampoo and conditioner is safe in pregnancy, as is dying hair.
I hate that app. It's so problematic as it's now being paid to get better ratings 🥴 and the things they say are bad on a scientific studied level are more often than not absolutely fine. Shampoo and conditioner will be washed off. Use what works best for you ♥️
Shampoo and conditioner don’t get into your bloodstream, so they wouldn’t be unsafe in pregnancy. The only risk would be as your skin/scalp can become more sensitive in pregnancy, you could potentially react to products differently but this is rare. If you’re using one and not having any issues like a rash then it’s absolutely fine x
I always recommend Davines! Sulphate and paraben free, usually the brand of choice for high end/sustainable salons. MINU is for coloured hair but they are all colour safe: https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/davines-minu-illuminating-shampoo-250ml/11452134.html
I use Innersense and love it - make sure you wash twice! Makes all the difference :)

Yuka, EWG, and Think Dirty are useful apps for people looking for safe alternatives to the regular (toxic-chemical filled) drug store hygiene options. Our skin absorbs much of what we put on our bodies, and from there chemicals can sometimes go into our bloodstreams. It’s important to be mindful of this, regardless of pregnancy. Honestly, it’s easier to make the switch to clean hygiene, beauty, and cleaning products for you and your family than worry about the long term effects of all these chemicals accumulating. For example, according to the FDA, over 99% of cosmetic lip products sold in the US contain lead at levels below 10ppm (which isn’t considered dangerous). However in 2012, the FDA found that 61% of 400 lipsticks contained dangerous levels of lead and other toxic heavy metals and in 2016, a study found that lipsticks averaged nearly 500 ppm of lead.
Thank you ladies these are all so helpful 😘
I can honestly say I’ve never heard of any shampoo not being safe in pregnancy. Also getting your hair highlighted is considered safe if you look at the data (really recommend the book Expecting Better) especially as nothing touches your scalp but you obviously need to feel comfortable with your choices. I mean this is the kindest possible way, but on the shampoo front you might be slightly overthinking this one.
