Could potentially be an allergy if she’s wheezing after food! Congestion, wheezing, loose poops, mucusy poops, rashes any of this symptoms could potentially be a milk allergy xx
Following as my 4 week old is exactly the same. We have a doctors appointment this afternoon. I feel it's a mix of reflux and a possible allergy. My bubs been doing it since 1 week and the doctor said it's reflux but said to see how she goes up to a month. I'm going to push for the reflux medication for her.
So, could be several things. Are you breast feeding or bottle feeding ? The flow could be too fast. Breastfeeding try a laid back position against gravity. Bottle feeding trying as close to 90 degree angle and sitting up not laid on back. Slow flow nipple. Also make sure their airway is clear sometimes when my baby has boogers is clogging them while eating. You can do saline and suction if there is something in their nose. Sounds like they are swallowing too much air if they have hiccups and throwing up. Gently burping them and again making sure they aren’t gulping down the food. 1. Make sure airway is clear 2. Have slow flow nipple and sitting up for bottle or laid back breastfeeding position 3. Let baby take breaks as needed 4. Gently burp baby after or even in between feeds 5. Don’t lay baby down right after eating- keep them upright for 15-30 mins should reduce reflux like systems
My little one does this and it is due to a tongue tie. We met with a lactation consultant (IBCLC) and she gave us exercises to do to help him strengthen those muscles. He still coughs sometimes but it's gotten better. I'd recommend finding an IBCLC near you. Some are even covered by insurance!
My little ones had this problem. Turned out they were aspirating slightly during feeds with thin liquids. This causes choking and also can be the cause of wheezing. They’re on gel mix thickener with their breast milk now which has completely stopped them all from choking and making these noises. Cows milk allergy can also be the cause of wheezing so I am now on dairy/soy free diet as well so might be something to consider!
thank you all!!
Was just wondering if you’ve found any solution, my daughter is 3 weeks old and is doing the exact same thing.
Follow, my 8 week old has been the same since around 3-4 weeks. Drs have said it’s normal the choking started more recently
