I'm nearing the end of my first pregnancy and I'm scared about everything changing. I don't feel scared about labour or having a baby. I think I'm going to be good with both of these. I have lots of experience with babies so this change is one I'm confident with.
However, I'm anxious that I'm finishing work soon and it's been a huge part of my identity for so long that I'm already feeling lost.
Also, I love my man and our relationship up until pregnancy made me really happy. We travelled together a lot and went on lots of date nights. We've discussed getting married but he hasn't popped the question yet.
Since getting pregnant I've been poorly most of the time with one thing or another which has obviously changed what we've been able to do together as a couple. I'm confident he's happy we're having a baby (it was planned) but, I think all he's seeing at the moment is effort. He's busy at work and we've had a lot to do around the house and I'm ill a lot so I'm limited in what I can do. I worry that we won't get back to what we were and know the dynamic is bound to change between us as we become parents too but I really want it to bring us closer and it seemed to be doing until a couple of months ago. Now I feel like he's less interested in me and baby and it scares me.
It could just be my hormones making me emotional and over think but, he seems more interested in reading twitter when we're together than talking to me. I know that's what he does to relax but it's at least 90% of his time when he's not at work or sleeping. Unless we're having to 'put effort' into preparing things for baby's arrival.
I need some rational or supportive thoughts ladies because I'm scared that everything is changing and I'm feeling lost.

Hi lovely, congratulations on your pregnancy.
First off it is totally normal to feel scared about it, I know I did!
It is a big change that is coming so much advice is take it day by day and always reach out if you feel super low.
I was like that about work and having my baby has for me, been a game changer, because it has made me realise I am so much more than my work identity but that it is also valid and important.
Secondly with your relationship, he may also be stressed about the future and that is natural. You should talk to him and just ask him if he is OK, say how you've been feeling and lead with that. Your relationship will change but watching your partner fall in love with your baby and be a dad is one of the best things ever.
Hormones are running all over the place but that doesn't mean that your feelings aren't valid.
It is so natural to be feeling overwhelmed at the moment, are there any particular questions you have that I can help with at all?
I promise it all works itself out ❤️
@Rosie thank you so much for this thoughtful and helpful reply 💜 it really helps to know I'm not alone and that things will work out.
I have taken your advice to speak to him and we're going to continue communicating. ❤️
