My maternity has varied every single month. The most recent just over 600. I'm not Being taxed and cant wuite work ot what's going on myself c
@Claire yeah but itās only Ā£11 odd, I donāt think so Iāve not had anything through to say Iāve not paid enough! X
@Zoe yeah mines is different depending on the weeks. This month was a 5 weeker so was expecting a bit more. My slip says Iām not being taxed so not sure where the rest of it is! I just want to make sure before I contact my employer to say Iāve not been paid correctly incase I have and make a foolš¤£x
Maternity Pay is taxed regardless of drop in income, so youāll be paying Tax and Pension as you would normally do (the sad reality of Mat Pay, unfortunately)
@Lola really! My wage slip says Iāve not been taxed so a bit confused. Itās so rubbishšš
I havenāt paid the tax on my Mat pay since the new tax year start in April. Jan-March I did just because of the tax threshold I was over already. I would deffo ask your employer they will be able to see or could look on your hmrc app and see what it says x
You can ask them not to do Pension deductions if you want but they probably won't start it til next month.
Since April I donāt pay any tax or NI on my maternity pay, for some reason my mat pay was Ā£724.57 last month but Ā£736.12 this month, I canāt work out why there would be that difference š¤·š¼āāļø
I get paid weekly and I got taxed for the first 6 weeks of my maternity pay but is now being given back to me each week on top of the amount given by my work. I am 12 weeks postpartum. All I pay into now is my pension
SMP is paid weekly. So it's calculated differently. Not sure if that helps or not. You can be taxed on it depending on when your SMP started in the tax year. But you will get it back.
Do you pay into a pension? Or could be tax if you didnāt pay enough last year they will take it out of your pay even when on maternity x
