Our daughter has both our surnames. I’m taking her to Barcelona on my own, will there be any issues as her dad isn’t coming?

I travelled from Canada to France and back with baby having Dad's surname first. No problem for me :) Just take the baby's birth certificate with you just in case ;)

No you won’t have any issues, unless dad decides he doesn’t want you to take her.

Take birth certificate
I was stopped with my baby as different surnames

No. My son has a double barrelled surname and when I took him to Brussels by myself there were no questions because obviously half of his name is my name. I think you run across issues if for example your child had dads surname only because then it looks suspicious that you’ve both got different names whereas nowadays double barrelled surnames are so common 😊

A friend recently took his daughter to Turkey, had no issues leaving UK or arriving in Turkey. They went on a boat trip to Greece for the day and they wouldn’t let him leave Greece without proof. So he had to contact mum, to find the birth certificate, send that through with an email to say he had consent to take her x

It’s the norm in Spain for children to take on the two surnames of their mother and father so they won’t bat an eyelid x

Get a letter from dad just in case they ask

I went on holiday with both my kids (different dads) my 2 children have different surnames to me and only one had the dad's name who was travelling with me, my other child didn't have either mine or my partners name and we wasn't stopped but I did email the flight company beforehand and they said to just bring along both birth certificates

I travel with a letter from her dad and a birth cert copy and I have been asked twice

Thank you so much everyone! I’ll take the birth certificate just incase x
