Breastmilk

I haven’t smoked since August as I was pregnant but since giving birth I haven’t wanted to smoke as I don’t know how it effects breastmilk
Do any of you know?
I would love to smoke again if possible I’m just a little nervous.
Thank you so much mamas

I didn’t notice a difference in my like supply other than I just need to drink more water. My ratio to keep it flowing was 1-2 bottles of water per smoke sesh 😅 my sesh usually contains a joint or 2 bowls

how long do you wait to feed your little one after a smoke sesh?

Waiting or pumping and dumping aren’t effective with smoking marijuana like it is with alcohol because it stays in your bloodstream and BM anywhere between 6 days to 6 weeks. There are trace amounts in your breastmilk when you smoke so it really depends on if you’re okay with baby having exposure to even trace amounts or not. If you aren’t okay with even that trace exposure, I’d recommend either just not smoking or switching to formula if you feel like you need to smoke ♥️

I didn't smoke while pregnant or breastfeeding with any of my 3 children, just a personal choice. There's not enough research for gestation or breastfeeding. Everyone is different and there are always exceptions to any rule in science. The only research I have seen is negative affects for consumption in adolescents. That leads me to believe it's not good for a brain not fully matured. It is ultimately up to you. Good luck!

that’s what I have seen too and so that is what I have been doing
Once I’m done breastfeeding I will smoke I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any research

keep in mind that it might be a journey getting started again. I went two years without and now not only am I a "lightweight", I'm not sure how my brain chemistry has changed after the 3rd kid. I wish you all the best!

I did the same as Skyla. I chose not to smoke during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to lack of long term research and its effects. From short term (young children/infants/babies) research from what I’ve read they found really no effect but we don’t have enough research on the long term effects which it’s entirely possible that it could have negative effects in the long term even with no short term effects. Long term meaning how it has affected the child’s development as they get into their teen years and adulthood+ by being exposed to it when they were in utero and breastfed with trace weed components in it. My mental health declined for numerous other reasons so I had to switch to formula anyway and started smoking again once I switched.

I didn’t wait lol. As the others have said I didn’t have enough research on it actually affecting the baby and I had a lot of friends and family that smoked and no issues!
