Dog mom guilt

I am 20w 2d pregnant and I have a 1 year old dog (him in the picture snuggling my belly) who follows me everywhere and I love him. I just feel guilty that I don’t have the energy to play with him or take him anywhere. Our day mostly consists of us going out in the backyard every couple hours for him to go potty and then hanging out around the house and taking naps. I just feel like I’m left him down by not doing much with him he is very well behaved and has quite a few enrichment toys that we use throughout the day but I still feel guilty. It makes me cry because I want to do so much more with him but I just don’t have the energy. Does anyone else feel this guilt?

As guilty as you feel your dog actually understands. High energy dogs will become low energy dogs during pregnancy or sickness. With enrichment toys and regularly letting them out You're doing the best you can and they appreciate it.

I feel guilt already for after baby. We’ve always treated our dogs like our children and they are so spoiled to have all our attention. They’re little guys so I’m not sure they’ll be as nurturing toward the baby as bigger dogs but hopefully they’ll come around to their new brother.

@Kacy I wouldn't worry. I sent some vids of small breeds and babies. My Nana's dogs were small breeds and they protected me while pregnant and adored my daughter.
