Hi all!
I know every baby is different but I guess I’m just coming here to get some reassurance.. I have a 9 months old baby who is always happy, active, curious etc. I breastfed him only 2 weeks at the beginning and switched to formula.
He is 9 months now and weights around 8.2 kilos, I sometimes feel like he is maybe “skinny” (I am myself) or I’m scared he doesn’t eat “enough” although he eats very well and has a wide variety of meals!
Babies around me and around the same age are around 9-10kilos so does anyone experienced the same or feels the same?
Thank you

It’s not so much weight that you should be following but more the percentiles - my son was born on the 90th percentile (4kg) and by 3 months had dropped to the 20th percentile (5.7kg) due to bad reflux. He was put on baby gaviscon and when he started weaning at 6 months the reflux completely stopped. By 9 months he was back to the 90th percentile (10kg) and he’s stuck steady at the 90th percentile since then (he’s 17 months now).
I would look in his red book and check his weight is following the curve for whatever percentile he was born at. There’s also apps you can get to track the same thing on your phone. Doctors also generally say that some change in percentiles is fine but if they drop 2 or more lines on the graph that’s when they get concerned.

What does the dr say? There’s a big range for “normal”. Tracking percentiles is important. It’s done in the US, not sure about other places.

they track centiles in England too.

My daughter was only 8.76kg at 11 months. She's a perfectly healthy, active 22 month old now.

My lil guy is a little over 8 months and weighs 8.7 kilos . I used to think he looked “skinny”. But this boy is heavy!!! I used to compare him to other babies so much it drove me nuts. But he is following his curve so well. He eats 6-7oz every feed plus his fruits/veggies, yogurt, cereal. Etc. all babies are different.

My 9 month old is only 7.4 kg..... but I'm not a very big person myself so the doctors aren't concerned.

My son was 10 months old when we had the 9-12 HV appointment and only weighed 7.8kg. Although very hard try not to compare your baby to other babies. I was also very paranoid because of his weight but he’s thriving and meeting milestones x

Generally they say baby at 1year should triple birth weight so my girl was 3.45kg at birth and around 10kg ish at 1year. So I wouldn't compare...every baby is different.
Percentiles are the best to track for sure. My boy is already heavier than my girl was and he was a lower birth weight than her.
Every baby is so different. I wouldn't compare. Once feeding ok and having wet and dirty nappies too! Genetics would play a good part in it too! X

Thank you everyone! I feel better seeing your comments - I used to not compare and feel totally confident but my husband was just a bit concerned the last few weeks so suddenly I started to think about it and it drove me crazy.
At the last appt the nurse said it’s all good so I guess it’s what matters :)
Thank you again!

If it helps our son has just turned 2 and is 24lbs he has always been small, born at 5lbs 4oz and is still in 9-12m clothes. They are all different but they grow at their own rate and as long as the HV and doctors aren't concerned I wouldn't worry.
