So I’m 37 almost 38 weeks and I was told it was safe to start to pump my colostrum. Issue is I have no idea what I’m doing🤦🏾♀️ nothing is coming out even after I pump for 30 min and I’m getting a little frustrated. I have the momcozy s9 pump and was hoping someone could help me figure this out 🥲

Electric pumps are terrible at collecting colostrum! I'd recommend trying a manual pump or just hand expressing. Good luck!

@Paige do you know why that is? Seems strange

colostrum is thicker then milk so it’s harder for the pumps.

thank you! I’ve been at this all day long😭

what Emilie said!

of course! Hopefully that makes things a bit easier for you!

@Emilie good to know! I don't think I'm producing yet but my hakaa just arrived!

Me too but it took me 30 minute for a syringe so

that’s normal also! Don’t think you’ll have a bad supply just because you can’t get colostrum now

Get the haaka. Everyone recommends that for hand pump

Def hand express - pumps don’t work will due to the thickness and the longer you pump, it could initiate labor from the prolonged oxytocin release. I’ve been doing up to 15 minutes in each side, 2x per day, to build a supply in case it’s needed after birth. And going well so far! Highly recommend getting individually packaged sterilized syringe - we use the 3ml size and it’s going great!

Ok moms, I'm a FTM and don't really know how to tell if colostrum has come in? I'm not leaking anything and I typically give the girls a squeeze before I shower but is there anything else I should look out for?
