I’m about 5 weeks pregnant and today I had a brown stringy discharge. Is this normal? Usually I get this before the start of a period but I already missed my period. Is this normal?

Yup. I had spotty discharge at 5 weeks (I was scared to death lol) and then again at 8 weeks. I’m talking bright red spots. It wasn’t a lot. Just a few spots and my discharge was tinted red. She’s two now.

yeah I would freak out! I am taken aback cuz it didn’t happen to me during my first pregnancy. Did your Doc. say why it happened?

With my last pregnancy I started bleeding around the same time, not a whole lot but scared the crap out of me to the point I thought I was miscarrying , went to the doc the next day , baby was fine but they gave me the RhoGAM shot

did the Doc say why it happened?

Avatar

no he didn’t have any explanation other than “it sometimes happens “ 🤦🏻‍♀️🙁which wasn’t reassuring at all

have you seen an OB yet?

I have my first appointment in a week, I really hope it doesn’t happen again cuz I can’t wait that long to see why this happened

I had spotting like this off and on for the first 9 or so weeks. It was really scary but everything was fine and it stopped.

I had this from 5w to 8w, sometimes it went bright red too. I’m now 34 weeks pregnant and everything is fine

did you ever find out what it was?

Avatar

they just blamed my hormones! It’s fairly common - I was told to worry only if it included clots and if it was bright red and filled a pad

phew! Thanks for the insight. Have a safe delivery!

My doctor said something about irritable uterus. It was weird but baby was fine. I didn’t have it with my first at all.
