pumping & BF tips

so my baby is 6 weeks now, breastfeeding is still painful and my nipples are RAW and cracked all over so i’ve bought an electric pump to let them rest. baby took a bottle okay today but downed 110ml (all from one pump straight into his bottle) in about 5 minutes and kept crying after. does he need more than 4oz? how do i get a stash of milk while still breastfeeding without getting a huge over supply? is there a good way to alternate or?

goal is to still feed off the breast as much as i can but also give my nipples a break and keep my supply as similar as it is now ( i’ve tried everything, creams shields silver cups different pads etc)

When my nipples cracked day 3 of breastfeeding I put breastmilk on them and covered them with Medela hydrogel pads. Literally cured them overnight and haven’t had any cracks, pains, issues since. I popped an ingrown on my bikini line by accident and it was an open sore (hurt like hell) put BM on it and covered with a bandaid - healed the next day. You can get the hydrogel pads on Amazon or if you have Saran Wrap that works too!

I don’t have advice to pumping cause I haven’t pumped yet. But for the cracked and raw nipples, you can use a nipple shield till they’re healed. I used one from like 2 weeks pp till like 8 weeks pp and it helped so much and now I have no pain

I was both pumping and breastfeeding but nothing made me felt better (creams, cups, breastmilk etc). My baby is now 7wks and my nipples feel way better compared to last week. So sending prayers your way that yours start to be more calloused/thicker.

Mine can drink more than 4oz if not paced fed and being burped in between.

I noticed that I build my stash faster with a Haaka compared to pumping and feeding him a bottle. My letdowns are way faster when I breastfeed him giving me about 4oz compared to getting 2 to 3 oz when pumping.

My baby is 4 weeks and she eats 150 ml. I can’t keep up with her because everytime I pump only 60 to 120 comes.
It feels that I’m constantly attached to the pump

When you are using the bottle try pace feeding so baby doesn’t drink it all straight away, I found that helped x
