Free prescriptions

How do I get free prescriptions? There's a form I was given and I never filled it out. Just got prescribed some antibiotics today and I'm assuming I will have to pay for them as I haven't completed and sent off this form. Does anyone know how long it takes?

Yep I also got an email with my exemption certificate after my first midwife appointment! Defo worth asking your midwife x

I filled in the ‘pregnant’ box before I got my certificate as the pharmacist could clearly see I was pregnant so didn’t ask

I had to complete a form at the GP (which they have to stamp) and my pharmacy was happy to accept that while the certificate was processed. It's so unclear though. If it helps you can also pay for it now and claim it back (there are instructions for this on the back of the certificate paperwork when you get it).

In all honesty my pharmacy have asked to see it maybe once in 2 pregnancies, they just ask if I pay and if not what my exemption is, I did get emailed my exemption certificate after my first midwife appointment though and didn’t need to do anything to get it!

My pharmacy have never asked to see it, ive just told them I have maternity exemption and with the bump they can obviously tell anyway

Thanks everyone, that's super helpful! I emailed my midwife but thought I'd chance it and the pharmacist could clearly see I was pregnant and just showed me which box to check :) Glad I know for future though!
