Do your baby boys get mistaken for girls?

Literally every interaction I've had with strangers they called my baby "she," and I doesn't bother me though.

My family and friends have been saying he needs a haircut since he was like 4 months. His dad and I love his hair. I don't want to cut it other than trimming the hair in his face myself so he can see.

Also I wouldn't know what type of haircut when the time comes? how to style it now? What can I do to get it out of his face? Any tips or advice please, TIA.

My son does because of his eyelashes

My son has been called a girl maybe twice but by really elderly women that couldn’t really hear me well when I said he. They just were like she’s so cute lol

My 4 year old finally wanted to get a ‘big boy hair cut’ after having a bobble in his hair since he was under 2🤍 we always got told it was because he was “blonde and blue eyed with a pretty face” (apparently boys can’t have pretty faces🤯😂😂) he got called a girl every single day! But it didn’t bother us!🤍

Love his hair!
I don't know why but I feel like society just always assumes babies are girls no matter what. My baby doesn't have very long hair and always gets called a girl. Even when he is in an all blue outfit with his blue dinosaur blanket. I don't usually correct people since it's usually strangers I'll never see again.

I guess we all go through it! It only bothers me when I correct people and they reply with "time to cut his hair"

My sons 4, never had a short haircut and always gets called a girl. You get used to it and eventually they can correct people.
When he was 2, someone said he’s a lovely little girl and he said “I not a girl, I’m just Renn!” It was very cute

People are stupid
My son when wearing denim dungarees and a short back and side haircut would get called a girl and all mu girls even when wearing frilly dresses have been called boys
One old lady called my now 11 Yr old a boy when she had a over the top frilly dress on and even her hubby laughed at her and said she needed her eyes tested

Both my sons do

My boy is bald and only wears blue, white clothes etc. Everyone ALWAYS say she 😩 so annoying!!

Yes everyone was calling my baby a girl and he is most definitely a boy !

Litterally drove me freaking crazy

My 9 month old daughter literally always gets called a boy and that's he's so handsome even when she's wearing bright pink dresses just because she barely has any hair haha

My boys were constantly confused for girls. I used to correct people, and then my oldest was doing a diaper study and the people were literally in the middle of adjusting his diaper and still called him "she". Like his penis is right there in front of them. So after that I decided to not worry about it anymore.

For the first 2 years of his life, my son was always mistaken for a girl. Even though he would wear "boy clothes".

It just means you have a pretty baby! And for some reason people assume that means they’re a girl 🙄
It doesn’t matter what his hair looks like, people will still mix it up! My older son had the most beautiful blonde curls and was constantly called a girl…then at 3 he decided to cut his hair and people still called him a girl 😂

Avatar

A few times, if they say “she’s beautiful” or anything along the lines I’ll say “thank you he sure is”

Avatar

it annoys me that “pretty face” automatically means girl anyways! Why can’t boys have pretty faces😂😂 my little boy got it ALL the time. “It’s cause he’s got such a little pretty face with blonde hair and blue eyes”.

?????? I’m sure there’s lots of pretty boys with blonde hair and blue eyes😂

Avatar

yes same!! My son has super light curly blonde hair and blue eyes! Pretty face shouldn’t automatically mean girl 🙄😂

He's an absolutely gorgeous baby! And I love his hair! If it doesn't bother you, then you guys do what you like. He's your baby and it's your bubble. Only cut it or style it in the way you want, don't let strangers affect how you raise your child.

When he was a newborn I was only when he was wearing yellow. Didn't matter what yellow or what was on it. Alot was University Of Wyoming outfits. Not so much now he looks like Dennis the Mennis. My mom keeps guilting me not to cut his hair

Avatar

My first boy yes my 2nd no

My son gets mistaken all the time. He has longer hair and is half Asian. Doesn't matter if he is wearing 'boy clothes', though I really want to kill the stigma. Colors, hair styles, and patterns should not define gender.

Avatar

Yes all the time

Avatar

It didn’t occur to me until today😅
I was out with my 3month old and someone approached to converse. The first question they asked about my boy was “boy or girl?”
Up until then it didn’t occur to me that others may not be able to tell whether he was a boy or girl lol

Avatar

Keep his hair however you want until of course he express the way he would like it. I don’t think it matters how others see him, it’s your baby not theirs tbh

Avatar

Omg yes! Before I cut my son’s hair many people thought he was a girl lol. This is not to say to cut your babies hair. I actually regret cutting my son’s hair but he didn’t like for me to do it, so it had to go. I think boys who have softer features get confused for a girl

they always call my son a girl, that’s why i won’t get his ears pierced :/

Health Visitor Home Visit

Hii, could anyone explain what the health visitor does on their home visit?

Also if anyone had a home birth, what the midwife home risk assessment involves?

I’ve got 3 home visits coming up in the next two weeks (health visitor, midwives and doula) and it’s making me nervous for some reason. I think having 3 just feels like a lot and a bit invasive if that makes sense!

Did you know this was a thing?

Didn’t know this existed! I’m actually not breastfeeding 2nd time round (though wish I did) after a bad experience with my 1st baby. But this is something I 100% needed 1st time round.

Fighting naps

Does anybody else feel like they spend all day trying to get baby to nap? I get tempted to give up as he must not be that tired but he is too cranky to play or do anything else!

How are we entertaining our babies

What toys does everyone have for their 7 month old?
Nothing is satisfying my little girl she's got blocks, rattles, playmats loads more. She would much rather hold my hands and walk all day but I cant physically do that and whenever I put her down to play she just wont, is this just a faze?

Any experience with different teats?

Hey Mamas

So my little girl is exclusively breastfed but she wont even take FRESHLY PUMP milk from the bottle. I had a whole 4oz that was going to waste and baby girl was just massanging her gums and smiling lol :/
Ive tried adding extra holes with a needle, the ol' switcheroo (BF first then switch ti bottle) but she's very keen and notices straight away.
Im currently using Nuby and Tommee silicone bottles, and I would like to try more softer, boob-like teats.

Id ideally like her to take a bottle so Dad can give me a REAL break yknow.

Has anyone had this same experience? Any teats one would recommend?
Thank you in advance!
