So my boyfriend decides that he wants to drink with his brother and have a fire and grill. that’s all fine. I figured we’d do it in the afternoon. Going home about five 6 o’clock to get the kids ready for bed cause they take a bath and they like to relax. He tells me that we’re gonna end up being there till 9 PM but completely off their schedule am I the asshole for telling him that I don’t want to keep them out that late?

Eh I let my kids get off schedule for outings only because they don't see family often and they usually rest pretty well the next day. If your kids get thrown outta wack after one day off schedule then no your not the asshole at all!

Nope not ahole... schedule is important for kids. We kept our baby girl schedule since she was a baby and now she is almost 2 and she knows when bed time is and you won't be able to get past that.

I'm fine going off schedule but I hate staying out too late because it results in shit sleep for everyone AND early wake ups 😭 thankfully we're on the same page and know that while we can push it a little we don't stay out too late.
If he wants to keep everyone up I'd let him know that he's in charge of overnight and morning because you shouldn't be punished for his ideas

I hate having my kids off schedule. I guess it's okay to break the rules rarely but then again it's ok to be pissed because you'll be the one to deal with the meltdowns when theyre off their schedule

Once in a blue moon well go off schedule with our toddler but not very often because we worked so hard for a bed time schedule

Nta, it’s his brother which means youll probably be solo parenting that night. What’s the point in putting yourself through the hassle

Unless you have to be up early the next day for something, I don't see the problem with going off schedule every now & then.

same here!!! Holidays or family gatherings everything else? Hell no
