Throat infection/tonsilitus

My son had tonsillitis when he was just over 1, took him to the hospital because his temp was over 39. They said he just had a sore throat but I took him back the next day because he was not himself at all and it developed into tonsillitis they gave him some throat spray it’s like numbing spray and some penicillin. Perked up within a few days. Hope your little one gets better💙

My boy had tonsillitis 2 weeks ago and was given antibiotics, he’s had similar symptoms prior to the diagnosis he has had a cough since jan that’s sounds like whooping cough but they just keep telling me it’s viral.
Maybe ask to see another dr?

I’ve seen two now 😩 the first one didn’t even give anything! But then he went downhill after that. I’ll be going to a&e soon if he doesn’t improve 😢x

We've had antibiotics for 3 tonsillitus and 8 ear infections! It's awful! Each time my boy has 3 really bad days where he doesn't eat and hardly moves, but about 24 hours after antibiotics they start to perk up again... hope your boy is OK x

it’s horrible isn’t it. Was he really lethargic? I’m hoping the antibiotcs kick in soon but if he’s no better by end of today I’ll be going to hospital I think x

that sounds like my boy at the moment he’s not moving at all. I’ve never seen him so poorly and my first son was never this bad. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon 🙏 it’s horrible isn’t it x

thanks I have had it before too and I do remember feeling horrific and couldn’t leave my bed. I guess he just be feeling the same poor lad x

Yes it's horrible isn't it. When my lo had tonsillitis he was the same, really not himself and just cuddly and upset. Lots of yoghurts or cold foods if he'll eat anything at all, dose up on calpol and nurofen as well as the antibiotics. If there's no improvement after a few days of the ABs or you're really worried get seen again

yeah he was very lethargic, we rang 111 the day after the doctors told us he just had a sore throat and they got us into an emergency doctors as it was a Sunday, they seen it was tonsillitis straight away and gave him the right antibiotics for it. He perked up so quickly but he was very lethargic and not well for about a week and a half before it developed into tonsillitis x

were on day 5 now and not really seeing an improvement 😢 been on antibiotics 1.5 days

it’s been so awful. We’re on day 5 and he’s still not better. He’s had 1.5 days of antibiotics content painkillers
He’s so sad :-( crying most of the night. He won’t eat anything
