how long does your little one sleep at night? possibly taking off around his bedtime ensures that for the most part of the journey he will sleep

wake windows will be for feeding, as along as theres no turbulence you can get up and walk around with him & take turns with your partner ect x

You’ll be fine. We fly long haul often and there’s not been a flight yet that our girl hasn’t passed out.

Tbh I rarely see a fussy baby, it’s the adults who are awful onboard.

Just make sure to get them comfy; travel in pjs, bring a blanket, lots of snacks, suction for takeoff and landing (dummy or bottle), pack calpol in case (some airlines have it onboard too).

So the flight is at 5:25 and then lands at 6:50 in the morning he sleeps through the night but he wakes up for a feed but I’m trying to cut it out before his 1 anyways his not one yet but when we go he would be one and a couple weeks old I was literally going by myself aswell so it would just be me😭

Oh if it’s a night flight, even better! Once dinner has been served and the fun stuff is gone (my girl is super nosey and loves the air staff giving the drinks and food out) they will dim the lights and he will go out 😴💤 the planes are huge white noise machines!

We did a night flight back from Barbados and my girl slept all the way home, woke up 40 mins before landing at Gatwick xx

Don’t stress about being alone. Everyone helps whenever I’ve flown alone. Air crew have held and played with my girl whilst I used the loo and ate. Board first to get yourself settled, bags in the overhead and nappy stuff at the ready. Pack an extra outfit for both of you in case of an accident too xx

thank you sooo much that’s put my mind at ease I was scared I think I’m just scared anyways as this is my first time flying with little man and I’m by myself but you know got to do what we got to do for some sun also how did you find it being in Barbados’s as when I told my mum we changed destinations she was like make sure you just stay in the resort did you leave yours or did you stay tbh I will probably stay inside regardless tbh x

I hired a car and drove us around the island 😊 went shopping at the supermarket, went out to the Oistins market on Friday night with baby for music and food, went to see monkeys and even took her out on a boat to see turtles. She was just about to turn 1. Best little holiday seeing her learn to walk on a beach and bobbing with me in the sea.

I’ve flown alone 5 times (family live in the US and Australia) so I do a lot of long haul alone with her and I’ve never had a bad flight. Sure, you might not sleep very well but slam a movie on and let baby boy lay on you. Air crew will be your best friends and those flights have so many families onboard.

Have an AMAZING time! xx

Hey I have flown a number of times long haul both for work as a nanny and with my own. Night flights are usually pretty good 😊 when you book your flights make sure to book your seats asap and book the bulkhead seats with the bassinet. Your one will likely be too big to use it unless they are on the low percentiles but it gives you more space and the bassinet is a great place to store stuff during the flight!

Just make sure that your first day of holiday and first day back you plan nothing except chilling :)

We did a 17 hour flight with a 22 month old and it was fine! He slept most of it, just be equipped with iPad, snacks, drawing items and new little toys 💖

I have traveled with my baby long haul 4 times at different stages. Try to go with low expectations to avoid being disappointed. Everyone survives! Night flights are the best. Take a lot of toys (buy some new or any other thing apart from his usual toys to entertain your LO, for example mine loves plastic bags and bottles) snacks and try not to stress if they don’t want to sleep when you try to settle them down. At some point they will fall asleep.

Hi lovely can’t give advice on how the journey will be with baby (sounds like an exciting trip!) but I’m surprised the flight back is 12 hours! From Dominican Republic to london should be just over 9 hours!
Could you be not accounting for the time difference maybe? Like could it be 5.25pm in DR and land 6.30am in london? Or is there a stopover making it longer? Sorry if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick !
