Thank you Carys, I’m just going to use pumped milk and get pump and dump really don’t want to risk it, my little one is so sensitive to it. I feel so silly!
That makes sense, it's definitely useful to have a bit of a freezer stash on hand just incase! Don't feel silly, it's so easy to do, you certainly aren't the first to accidentally eat dairy and you definitely won't be the last! If it helps, when I was about 2 months dairy and egg free I obviously had a complete mental block and stuck a fried egg on my plate at a breakfast buffet 🤦🏼♀️ I also reintroduced soy by forgetting the bread at the same place had soy flour and only remembered after eating 2 slices of fried bread 😂 luckily she doesn't seem to react to soy.
It depends on baby's reaction as to whether you want to feed. Studies show that the peak of protein in breastmilk comes about 2 hours after dairy consumption and is undetectable after 6 hours. I had butter and fed as normal (we assumed it was margarine) and my LG started showing she was uncomfortable (screaming, unable to settle/soothe) about 5- 6 hours later so by that point it was mostly or completely out of my milk so I fed her to comfort her. She was more settled after about half hour- an hour, but didn't sleep great that night. I guess if your LO has really bad symptoms you may want to avoid for a few hours if you have other options such as previously pumped milk. Xxx
