Swollen eye

My little boy has woken up with one of his eyes a bit red and swollen. He hasn’t had any bumps that I’m aware of unless he did it in the night, but he did have a tantrum before bed yesterday and was crying/rubbing his eyes a lot. He says it doesn’t hurt and doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. Is this worth a trip to an out of hours GP or shall I wait to see if it goes down? I’m known to be a bit of a hypochondriac and every time I’ve taken him in for anything I’ve been told he’s fine so don’t want to waste doctor’s time if it’s just from rubbing his eye. In the photo his eye on the left looks smaller and red and is more noticeable in real life
