Diaper Rash

It’s super common there’s not much you can do but keep them clean and dry. Diapers aren’t super breathable so if you can let them air out once in a while that’s great but diaper rash is kind of unavoidable it’s going to happen. My daughter gets it 2-3 times a month.

Use a mostly water wipe make sure hes dry after wiping and a good diaper rash cream as barrier every time

The game changer for us that stopped our little guy from getting diaper rash was to dry his bottom after using wet wipes! So we start with wet wipes and try to be as gentle as possible without rubbing, then we use a tissue or reusable washcloth to dab dry, then apply some Sudocrem, then new diaper on.

How often do you change his diaper? Or how long do you go between diaper changes? I think it’s normal but my daughter usually gets one about once in 5 months or so. She 17 months and has had about 4. I change her every 2.5 to 3 hours and with poop immediately. Though overnight I only change her once or twice when she wakes up.

Maybe your kiddo just has sensitive skin?

I’ve got a 1 year old right now, and knock on wood we haven’t had a diaper rash yet. We change every 2-3 or so during the day, and never changed overnight unless he pooped when he was really little. We use a few wipes for each diaper change? Pampers or Huggies wipes and diapers.

I change poop as I smell it, and pee every couple hours.
I do dry his bum with a by dabbing with a cloth or fanning his butt (lol) before applying diaper cream and fresh diaper.

I use the Huggies wipes, for sensitive skin.

My husband says I should only be using 2-3 wipes maximum per change. If not, I should bathe him.

After reading all your responses, I guess it is the wiping that’s causing the rash. All the friction from the wipes on his bum. :(

Hmm maybe but I also use Huggies sensitive wipes and for poop I definitely use more than 3. Probably 4 to 6 lol. But I also use a wipe warmer and add extra water, so maybe that dilutes it?

If he’s pooping a lot try using a cloth wipe. But some specific for his butt if it weirds you out. You can also use 1 disposable wipe to get the bulk of the poop first. But a cloth with water is much more gentle I find. Just rinse it out and throw it in the wash after. Use it for pee diaper too just to be more gentle.

Corn starch/arrow root powder always helps us too when our LO poops too much and becomes raw.

Very common but sometimes is a sign of an allergic reaction. My daughter has it when I use certain brands maybe try a different brand of wipes or nappies

Everytime a new tooth comes out we get a diaper rash... he's 13 months amd got a whole mouth of teeth

Toast all purpose flour
They’ll smell like burnt popcorn lol but it’s the best thing. No diaper cream or powder. Soon as you notice it starting, switch over to that and it’ll be gone within 24 hours.

My midwife found out about it from a nurse when her son had a terrible one even doctor’s prescription wasn’t working.

My daughters avoided diaper rash for 2 years thanks to that!! And it’s so easy to toast it til it becomes the colour of sand and put it In a baby powder bottle and you’re good to go!! Use it when ya need it!! ❤️

Two things worked really well for us. Waiting for the area to dry out after using the wipes, before putting on his diapers kept the rashes away. Before then, we would apply some vaseline on the rash, and it always healed & disappeared very quickly.

I use coconut oil as a barrier cream, it has really helped with our LO getting diaper rash.
