Maternity Leave!
What are everyone's plans for maternity leave?
I am planning on taking nine months off but I am scared I am going to get passed up for a promotion that is being brought in over the next 6 months.

Honestly if it’s do able and you have the funds to be able to take a long maternity leave I would definitely recommend it. You can’t ever get this time back with your baby and it goes by so quickly. You need to weigh up both options and do what’s best for you. You could always wait and see if you get the promotion first before making a decision
For my first I was sure I'd take nine months and go back full time ready to push for promotion. Turns out baby one was born prematurely and the first three months of her life were spent in hospital. By the time nine months passed I wasn't ready. I ended up taking a year mat leave then three months annual leave and unpaid leave. I also went back part time. You don't need to decide now if your original plan doesn't feel right after baby arrives.
