My little girl is at the peak of her “terrible twos” behaviour. What’s the best thing you’ve read about development at this age and how to respond to behaviour you find challenging? Looking mainly for books or articles. Thanks!

No books or articles but I find these insta accounts brilliant and framing how to respond to feelings (especially the first):

this helped me so much! Thank you! And I’m only on the first link!

I second the Nurtured First account that Madeleine suggests! I followed this account, and Jess’ approach for years before having children, as it was relevant in my industry. I’ve never met a child whose behaviour I couldn’t support with this approach.

The book “there’s no such thing as naughty’ was a real eye opener for me. It’s more about understanding their brains and why they behave like they do and it really helped me navigate these tricky behaviours xx

‘This too shall pass’

Something to remember when they’re having a full on tantrum is that their primal brain has taken over and they have no ability to self-regulate. They learn a lot by seeing, so it’s best to respond to their outbursts with calm so they see that but also because you have that level of control. It can be hard to do when you’re exhausted but them seeing you respond with calm will help them know that escalating won’t get the desired outcome but being calm might.
