Had my 32 week midwife appointment last week and baby is measuring 97th percentile (around 2.5-3 weeks ahead). I had a private scan at 28 weeks and baby was already around 4lbs. I know they aren’t always completely accurate but should I not be offered growth scans if baby is already measuring this large? I was a 10lb+ baby myself so I can see it going this way.

Learn more about our guidelines. At my 32 week appointment I was measuring 2 weeks ahead and my midwife said of at your 34 week appointment you have continued at the same rate of growth then we will send you for a growth scan. At my 34 week appointment last week I had grown at the same rate so was sent for a growth scan. So they may do the same for you. Unfortunately nhs will not go off of the information they give you at your private scans as I also had one ask my midwife and she said this x
I was referred for a growth scan but that was because they thought I was measuring four weeks ahead (then I had the scan and I am measuring two weeks ahead). I am booked for another scan in three weeks.
Not straight away, but if the trend continues then you may be sent for one.
I believe if the baby is measuring very small is when they would send you straight away.
I was way above the 100th percentile at 28 weeks and they weren't worried!
I was referred for growth scans at 28 weeks because he was measuring large and 11lb babies run in the family 😅 x I had one at 28 weeks one at 32 and then I’ve been told I will have another at 34 weeks and decide from there, I’ve also been under a consultant to keep their eye on the results each time too x
