Should I contact maternity or wait for midwife appointment?

For the past few weeks I've been feeling really short of breath, light headed, nauseous etc. Literally can't move or even sit still without feeling like I might faint. I know it's normal in pregnancy, but at what point should I speak to someone about it? My blood pressure when sitting is normal (120/80 ish) but the second I stand I can't see properly, my blood pressure drops and my heart races. I don't know how I'm going to do another 12+ weeks of this 😭😭

You need to see your gp or ring triage, this isn’t normal. A lower than average reading can be normal in the late stages of pregnancy but this is too low & you’re putting yourself at risk by not seeking medical advice. This could be a number of things- the most common being severe anemia or folate & b12 deficiency x

Contact your midwife or maternity triage today and explain your symptoms to them. You need an assessment from a medical professional

Go to triage, don't wait!

Thank you all - I've just spoken to triage and they've said to call my GP as they don't usually worry about low blood pressure đŸ˜«

that's a disappointing response considering you're light heated and short of breath. Contact the GP and ask for a same day appointment, make sure to tell them you've been instructed to go by maternity triage if they try and say they haven't got any same day appointments

I went to a&e when I was 25 weeks pregnant because I was short of breath and had a rapid heart beat & low blood pressure. I was seen straight away (they prioritise pregnant women) turns out I had severe anemia, had to have a blood transfusion & ended up staying in the hospital for 3 nights to be monitored. The gp may just advise you to go to a&e to get yours bloods checked because gps can’t do rapid blood tests x

I know this is a bit late, but definitely go triage. I had this at around 25w, and they told me they’re only concerned for low BP if it’s below 90/60 xx

Basically what everyone else has said. It’s highly likely that your iron levels are low. If triage won’t help you (which they definitely should), I would just go to A/E.

I know your GP has now reached out to you... But yes... Absolutely. I'm a nurse of 13 years and also work for NHS 111. With a BP of that and the symptoms I'd be telling to A&E asap. I can't believe mat triage told you to call the GP. Disgraceful

Any update for this? Xx

I spent the day in hospital yesterday and saw my midwife today (she was furious that triage had said that and told me to email the community team if it hallens again and theyll get me straight in), my ferritin is really low and they had planned to do an infusion but said they'd rather do 3 weeks or tablets and reassess at 31 weeks whether to do an infusion then. I also have a stomach bug today so assuming that didn't help how I felt yesterday if that was kicking in. Thank you for all your advice and words of wisdom đŸ«¶đŸœ
