My 7wo feeds horrendously during the day and only really drinks when he's half asleep. Otherwise he drinks a tiny amount and screams, refuses to latch onto the bottle even though he's clearly hungry. He will latch onto a dummy as he knows there's no milk. He's a very sleepy baby and I wonder if it's because he's not getting enough calories. But I fear I've been forcing milk down him which has caused the aversion. His weight has been checked and he's gone from 25th to 17th centile so not awful but I bit of a worry.

Has he always been bottle fed? It could be silent reflux or maybe it's the formula that doesn't suit him?

yes he's always been bottle fed. He had reflux which he's on medication for but always has been so that's not changed. And he's been fine on this formula up until now. From the symptoms he has it's definitely a feeding aversion rather than a medical issue.

Maybe try switching teat? He could be getting frustrated with slow flow or visa versa x

we tried moving to size 2 which he seems to cope with fine. But it's not made a difference to his reaction to the bottle.

You could try swapping bottles. My first did this around the same age and we had to swap from mam to tommee tippee for a few weeks and then (after we'd just ordered more TT bottles 😂) she went back to only liking mam ones again x

This is the time when sucking is no longer a reflex but a choice - hopefully is just a developmental phase!
