Pregnant on coil?

I’m just wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant whilst having a copper coil?

I had mine fitted about 2 months ago. I’ve not been breastfeeding for about 5-6 weeks now and my period hasn’t come back. I feel sooo lethargic and I can’t shake it. So now I’m in a panic 😂 I have a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old, money is tight, and another baby right now is really not in the plan. So I’m really stressing. I keep trying to reassurance myself of the unlikeliness but I’m just in a twist and feeling really anxious.

For context which is probably important I had the worst nights sleep in the world on Tuesday, my 9 month old was literally up all night, and last night I was flying solo and my toddler woke twice in the night and then got in with me at 4.30am and woke for the day at 5.30am.

So I’m probably just tired because sleep is a requirement to not feel tired? 😂🙏

My mum works on an antenatal ward and the amount of people that are pregnant while being on the coil is unbelievable ! I got mine fitted 4 weeks ago when I had my csection so I'm really hoping them people were just very unlucky!x

Breastfeeding stopped my periods with both my boys I take the depo jab and still haven’t had any period return as of yet, with my first I didn’t take any contraception and my period took a little while to return x

I’ve had the copper coil in total for almost 20 years. Never once feel pregnant.

When I stopped breastfeeding, it took 9 weeks for my periods to come back x

I got pregnant and had a miscarriage on the copper coil

I’m so sorry to hear that. Do you mind me asking did the coil cause it? Is ectopic more likely on coil? Honestly it says it’s 99.8% effective but I’m suddenly reading so many stories of people getting pregnant on coil.

I hate the idea of putting hormones in my body though so I really don’t know what to do contraception wise at all.

I was the exact same hated the idea of hormones and the lot and it was caused by it yes because of me getting pregnant on it it dislodged it and so my body started rejecting it so I had to get it taken out and in the process of getting it taken out the doctors failed to tell me I was pregnant and caused a miscarriage a ectopic pregnancy is more likely on the coil also! I did try the copper coil again after by my body just wouldn’t accept it! Cx

A family friend went in for a check up to find she was 4 months the pregnant. So it is possible.
